Anyone else interested in Japanese myths? Do you have any favorite youkai? I like more creepy ones, but youkai like kitsune and tanuki are very cute✨

In Japanese folklore, Kitsune (狐) are deity foxes, witch foxes. The word kitsune is sometimes translated as "fox spirit", which is actually a broader folklore category. Because the word spirit is used to refer to a state of knowledge or enlightenment, all long-lived foxes were believed to have supernatural powers.

Hyakki yako - “the night parade of a hundred spirits”, “the night procession of a hundred demons” - is a Japanese belief associated with ideas about devils, spirits and demons that annually pass through the streets of human settlements on summer nights, disappearing at dawn. Anyone who, without spiritual protection, encounters the procession will die.
